It felt more like an encyclopedia versus a guide. There are separate chapters on golf, Scottish culture, and the practicalities of getting around Scotland. Fodors Scotland 2018 has no pictures. I like their other books better. —answer a question or ask your own. This guide was lacking the same great info as that one. You can often buy an atlas that's two or three years old at very low 21st Edition but beware of anything much older than this.

They are large enough scale that you don't need any additional specialized maps. One atlas will cover your entire itinerary. While I 21st Edition reading and enjoying this guide, I am also planning to buy Fodor's See It Scotland, 4th Edition Full-color Travel Guideso I can see hundreds of photos and colored maps.
Its nice to have some photographic inspiration while looking through the book.
