He knows it will soon be time for him to die--to "go down the Long Tunnel". I have no hesitation in recommending this book to anybody faced with explaining to a child, t A charming picture book dealing with the end of life.
Written for children, this book handles a difficult subject brilliantly. What might Badger have been thinking as he ran along the tunnel without using his walking stick?
It is as if he has fallen out of his body and Susan Varley's descriptions are so touching one almost cries.
I cried while reading it.
Why was Mole so pleased when he made the paper chain? As with any good story, the reader is left feeling uplifted by the end as each animal is able to appreciate the special times that they shared with Bad 'Badger's Parting Gifts' by Susan Varley is such a sad, but heart warming story.
