Cardiorenal Syndrome: An Overview

Independent of age and conventional risk factors, CKD has been shown to be an independent predictor of CVD. If the patient is sick enough to require hospitalization, injections of intravenous loop diuretics are used. Serelaxin was associated with significantly lower serum creatinine and plasma cystatin C levels in the first 5 days after enrollment. Cardiac transplantation and ventricular assist devices are sometimes used.

When loop diuretics effectively decrease ECF volume, the NaCl balance gradually returns to neutral despite continued diuretic administration. Low doses are used together with diuretics. Central venous pressure CVP and pulmonary artery wedge pressure PAWP accurately reflect preload, but their elevation does not necessarily exclude intravascular volume depletion.

Each patient has their own medical history therefore the medications must be combined and adjusted for each case. argue that classifying the CRS based on the order in which the organs are affected and the timeframe acute vs chronic is too simplistic and without a mechanistic classification it is difficult to study CRS.
