Bone Mountain (Inspector Shan, #3) by Eliot Pattison

Both series are English language mysteries which involve Han Chinese, and both are really good, but there the similarities This is the third novel in Pattison's Shan series. His hero, former detective, now ex prisoner Shan, is a Chinese observer in a Tibetan world. However, with a faint light coming from an unknown source, Fei could see that there was actually a white pyramid-like tower about five to six hundred meters tall that was a thousand meters away Mountain of bones them.

When I go into these books, I live under their spell for days after - and I've found my worldview being re-evaluated in terms of how the people of Tibet live and believe. This book, however, was too long and too repetitive. 'The entire route is a well-made and easy to follow path.

Meanwhile Esther's family said in a statement they are 'urgently seeking clarification' after bones believed to be human were found on Friday near where the hiker was last seen. What starts as a spiritual pilgrimage, however, quickly turns into a desperate flight through the Tibetan wilderness as the Mountain of bones monk who guides them is murdered and Sham discovers that the artefact has recently been stolen from the Chinese army.

And the loneliness of the grave diggers, who know all too well that this is how we will all end up, eventually. Rather, I alone must feel it. 'We don't know if she reached Venasque that night. It's good I don't have to limit myself to just one thing, however, because that way I can also talk about Pattison's uncanny ability to describe a country and its traditions and people so well it truly feels like you are there, and you can feel the wind and sense the beauty.

Then in order to give them up they should apply outstanding enthusiasm, effort, zeal, vigor, perseverance, mindfulness, and situational awareness. Or, putting dhamma talk on in the background whilst cleaning the house, filling the air with the voice of another to distract us from their thoughts, or disguise the feeling of loneliness. I look forward to continuing the series as well!

But if you're into gory and super bloody stuff, then I don't really suggest this for you.
